Kimberly is a joyful creative artist and teacher. She has over 10 years of experience in teaching young people art, music, ecology, and various sports. Inspired by alternative teaching, she follows Gordon Music Learning Theory's research-backed approach to bond with her students and guide them into the beautiful realm of creative expression. Her teaching style blooms from deep connections and fresh energetic fun.
After graduating with a degree in Environmental Biology from McGill University, Kimberly recognized her creative spirit flourished when connecting with her young students. As her teaching style developed, she explored alternative schools and music teaching methods. She gravitated to and resonated with the function, freedom and beauty she saw in these playful methods. Free to Play creative studio was born, and she began to connect with parents and students seeking deep musical understanding. Today she is both teaching through her studio and online with Grace Note in Montreal, Canada.
Kimberly follows the audiation-based and sequential approach of Music Learning Theory (MLT) to teach grounded musicianship. She is a member of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning. In 2023, she completed teacher training, for the MLT based piano curriculum 'Keyboard Games' through Music Learning Academy.
