At-home listening activities
While listening the student should be moving in their own flow and:
• Listen to the pieces students are currently learning
• Listen to any previously learned pieces
• Listen to songs in More to Listen and Move to
• Listen ahead to the upcoming 3 pieces to prepare for future lessons
• Listen to Home Audio to Listen and Move to: Keyboard Games Book A
Moving with Flow
Listening is an important form of practice and is an integral part of the music learning process. Research has shown that children who regularly listen to a variety of songs and chants in different tonalities and meters show increased music aptitudes.
The more they listen, the more success they will have creating their own music, interpreting learned music, and gaining fundamental music skills. Even when students don’t want to practice at the piano (and many times, they will not), they can listen to their pieces, songs, chants, and echo patterns.
